Jennifer’s Blog It’s the Fourth of July as I sit here writing the newsletter. So First Happy Birthday America! I figured it was a good day to start writing the newsletter. I actually have nothing on my to do list that is motivating me to do it. The pool doesn’t open for another hour if I go over to it. So might as well get started on the newsletter, so I don’t have to spend my whole Saturday afternoon doing this. I do have to check the work schedule before I do the calendar page but at least I can get started. First, you should have gotten an email that there was a Saturday in July (the 19th) that we were showed as closed. We ARE NOT closed that day we will be having an open sew. We had confusion on days off for our store crew but we got it figured out and we will be open. I’m sorry if it caused confusion. I know it did on our side! I’ll also mention since there is a lot of confusion what our hours are. We are closed on Sunday and Mondays. Tuesday through Friday we are open 10am to 5pm and Saturdays are 9am to 3pm even though you might find me there earlier on Saturdays doing my paperwork and paying the bills. I will say I am a little disappointed that not one of you came in during our evening hours in June. So that will probably not happen again unless it’s for something special. Quilting 101 starts on July 26th. That’s just to tell you that it’s happening. I’m not sure if there will be a 201 right after or another 101. I might try to do a pineapple block class in September which might change when the next sessions start. My last 201 class would like one but we are unsure of scheduling. I should know by the time I write the next newsetter so stay tuned. I don’t think I have much else to tell you. We are really pushing the open sews to give you all a time to just come in and get your projects done! Some days you may be by yourself. Other days it might be packed. If you do not see something scheduled on the calendar you can always call the store and see if you can do your very own open sew! So check the calendar. Best of all we keep it pretty cold with the AC! Lastly, just a reminder that if you are only getting the monthly emails if you head over to Facebook or even instagram that you can get updates on any last minute things, completed projects of your fellow quilters, and all types of sales. Jenn Charity Project 2025—Dress A Girl Around the World In 2025 we are continuing our charitable effort with Dress A Girl Around the World (Hope 4 Women International non-profit). This organization provides dresses to girls around the world suffering from poverty, disease, and low self-worth. Staff and Customers make dresses to support this organization. We will supply the instructions and assistance in making these simple dresses to make a girl feel special and loved. They can be worked on at our Open Sews (50% fee waived) or at home. A 10% discount on fabric purchased specifically for these dresses. Kathy's Korner 2025 We are going to do things a little differently in 2025. Instead of having a specific monthly project, we will have an Open Sew for $10.00 per session. You can come in and work on a project of your choice or complete an unfinished project. Kathy will be there to help you (to the best of her ability) if needed. Occasionally, there will be a featured project during the month which will be priced accordingly. It is helpful to call in advance so that we know you are coming. Please pay attention to the dates that are listed below and on the calendar. Start your own group of ladies on a certain day that is listed and join the fun! Kathy’s Korner Open Sews are replacing/enhancing our sit n sews! Just a small change! If you call and can not get in on the Wednesday please call and make arrangements to come in during our other open times! Open Sews in August are every Weds with Kathy’s Korner and a bunch of bonus days. Check the attached calendar! If you don’t’ see a day or time call and see if there is room for you to come in! All times are 10:30 to 5 unless noted.
Yarn Time! This month we will be having 5 sessions of Yarn Time We will be charging $10.00 a session whether you are doing the project of the month or just your own stuff. As always our Yarn times are hosted by Emily Klaczak. Spread the word that it’s a great time to come in and work on your knitting and crochet and socialize with like mind artists! If you know anyone ho wants to learn have them come talk to Emily during one of these times and see what can be set up for lessons! All times are from Noon to 3pm unless specified in this section.
