Jennifer’s Blog

It’s that time again. Time to write the newsletter.  My day has been teaching.  Grocery shopping.  Making a low carb noodle casserole for the week with chicken.  When I was done cooking I wanted to get the garbage out before the ice comes or the dumpster starts to fill up more.  I walk out and say to myself.  Who left their trunk open.  Oooops the answer was me.  I texted my upstairs neighbor and she said she didn’t remember if I had put it down.  I don’t know whether I am losing my mind or if Romeo stepped on the remote on the table and opened the trunk.  Let’s blame him so I don’t feel like I’m losing my mind more than I already do!

Quilting 101 newest session is scheduled for March 22nd, but we have a list of 7 people so I am not even going to publicize other than this blurb.  If you know someone interested have them call the store and be added to the list.  This means the 201 I was planning has been pushed. Stay tuned if it gets back onto the schedule!  I need to win the lotto so I can teach more often.

Check out the rest of the newsletter for the dates for Kathy’s Korner and for Yarn time and the March project. After writing the first paragraph I think I will keep this a short newsletter.

We hope to see you come in and do some shopping! Remember that if there is nothing on the calendar during the week give us a call and come on in for your own open sew time for $5!

Remember the one with the most stash wins! Jenn

Classes/Events:

Charity Project 2025Dress A Girl Around the World

In 2025 we are continuing our charitable effort with Dress A Girl Around the World (Hope 4 Women International non-profit).  This organization provides dresses to girls around the world suffering from poverty, disease, and low self-worth.  Staff and Customers make dresses to support this organization.  We will supply the instructions and assistance in making these simple dresses to make a girl feel special and loved.  They can be worked on at our Open Sews ($5 fee waived) or at home.  A 10% discount on fabric purchased specifically for these dresses.

Kathy's Korner 2025

We are going to do things a little differently in 2025.   Instead of having a specific monthly project, we will have an Open Sew for $5.00 per session. You can come in and work on a project of your choice or complete an unfinished project.   Kathy will be there to help you (to the best of her ability) if needed.    Occasionally, there will be a featured project during the month which will be priced accordingly.  It is helpful to call in advance so that we know you are coming.  Please pay attention to the dates that are listed below and on the calendar.  We may adjust dates as needed but for January we are loaded with dates for you to sew!  Start your own group of ladies on a certain day that is listed and join the fun!  Kathy’s Korner Open Sews are replacing/enhancing our sit n sews!  Just a small change!

Open Sew /February:

Wednesdays from 10:30 to 5

March Yarn Time — Cactus Pincushion

Here’s a plant for your sewing room that won’t need watering, plus it’s a handy place to stick your pins!  It uses small amounts of yarn that you may already have in your stash, all you need to do is take a trip to the garden center for a pot.

SUPPLIES:
Small amounts of brown and green medium weight (acrylic or cotton) yarn, a few yards of pink yarn
Size H/8 crochet hook
Poly fiber fill
3-1/2 - 4”clay flower pot
Optional: craft glue to secure the ’soil’ in the pot; small pebbles to weigh down the bottom
