I couldn’t decide whether to take the laptop to the pool or write from the A/C apartment.  The A/C won.  Saw little kids heading to the pool so better to be safe and inside so I don’t lose a laptop.  However there is a pesky fly buzzing me.  Hopefully I can smash it quickly.  Onyx is asleep under the bedspread so he’s no help.

If you are reading this as it comes out in July you still have a few days to sign up for the Quilting 101 class that starts on July 20th!  Or maybe you are ready for the 201 that starts at the end of August.  The Quilting 101 is on the new online shop to make it even easier for you! 

The new system is up and running!  It is done!.  There are still some features that we are learning and taking notes on and trying to find bolts of fabric that for some reason did not get transferred over.  We also have a lot of emails that failed when I sent the first email out last week.  If you do not receive the email (Yes I know if you don’t receive it you can’t read it but maybe you are reading it from the webpage or from a friend) please let us know.  I’m not sure why we are having an issue but we will be working on in the next few weeks. 

A new perk to the new online shop is that you can use your gift cards!  Just when checking out use gift card and type the number in that is on the card!  We would appreciate if you some day brought it back to us but you can also pitch if you really want to. Some of you really have some old gift cards that you have never cashed in on.  I will admit I was one of them but you all have no excuse!  I am finding for every cool and new feature I’ve lost one that I liked from the old system.  For you the customer there shouldn’t be any changes other than good.  For me there’s extra work social media wise but hopefully the system reads all the outstanding ideas that seem to be submitted and implements them!

 We don’t have a lot of classes for you this month but as always remember we do on demands!

Don’t forget our Sit n Sews!  Do you  have unfinished projects?  Do you need some help?  Do you just want to hang out and socialize?  These are all reasons to come to our sit n sews!  They are only $5 per session.  It’s also would be great time to come learn and help make the dresses for our charity project! Remember they are anytime between the hours of 10am to 5pm.

This month Sit N Sews are:  Friday, August 9th, Thursday, August 15th, Tuesday, August 20th, Friday,  August 23rd and Friday, August 30th! 

Upcoming Classes/Events:

 "Kathy's Korner" - Join Kathy and other “Sewists” to create a monthly project.  Every month there will be a new and exciting project(s) to do.  What will they be?  Whatever Kathy and your “Sewists” come up with!  If you have an idea for something that you would like taught please let Kathy know.  The class will be on most Wednesdays of the month (please check below and the calendar for exact dates!).  You can come to one or all times to get your work done!  The cost of the class is $15 for each month’s initial workshop plus pattern and supplies.   If you need even more time you can also come to any Sit N Sew for an additional $5.

August Project— Scalloped Tote   Join us Wednesday August 7, 14, 21, or 28 at 10:30 to make this tote with the fabrics of your choice.  This would make a nice Holiday for the Holidays.   Talk to Kathy if you wish to schedule another date/time. Call or stop in to register since supplies are limited.   

Yarn Time!

This month we will be having 6 sessions of Yarn Time We will be charging $5.00 a session whether you are doing the project of the month or just your own stuff.  If you come to all you get the final session free!  As always our Yarn times are hosted by Emily Klaczak.   Spread the word that it’s a great time to come in and work on your knitting and crochet and socialize with like mind artists!  If you know anyone ho wants to learn have them come talk to Emily during one of these times and see what can be set up for lessons!

August Yarn Time - Crochet Zig-Zag Shawlette

Cooler weather will be here in a few months, so we’re easing into it by making the Zig-Zag crochet shawlette.  It works up beautifully in the ombre-shaded yarns, which were used for the store sample.  It was made with a #3 yarn, you could make it with a slightly heavier yarn, just increase the needle size.  Knitters, we’ll be doing the knitted version in the future!

Supplies:
About 600 yards of light/medium weight (#3) yarn.  The store model used one ‘cake’ of Lion Brand Mandella yarn
Size H crochet hook
